In 2020, my life changed overnight when I had my ovaries removed and hit menopause at 41. The care I received from the NHS was, quite honestly, inadequate and unsafe. My HRT prescriptions were repeatedly denied because of my age, with the words, "You don’t need it." But I did, desperately.
Within weeks, my mental and physical health spiraled. Things got so bad that my husband had to call an ambulance and the police. I genuinely thought I was going to be sectioned. Out of sheer desperation, I turned to private care. It took six long months to feel like myself again.
That experience lit a fire in me.
I threw myself into learning everything I could about menopause. The science, the symptoms. And the more I learned, the more I knew I had to help other women who feel lost, dismissed, and overwhelmed.
Today, as a menopause trainer at menopauselifebyjen, I guide and educate women, partners, and the workplace through one of life’s most challenging and potentially empowering transitions. My mission is simple: no woman should have to go through menopause alone, confused, or without support. Us ladies deserve to feel informed, confident, and cared for, and I’m here to help make that happen.
